WHY DID YOU START PWDR?
I first started in the industry for my love of creativity and self expression. Fitting in a box is ok within industries like this as the box is what teaches you the fundamentals, but then when we look at art, the fundamentals are meant to be pushed, poked and shifted.
For me personally, I wanted to create something, that truely embodies everything that I stand for and what my clientele stand for. I wanted to be able to give myself and my clients the room to be creative and authentic with no boundaries through PWDR. Either that can be a blonde balayage, a painting on a shaved head, or a bright pink. We don't get to choose who we are, we have to embrace it.
WHO IS BEHIND THE CHAIR?
My name is Katelyn, I have been in the industry for 10+ years, and I have been lucky enough to work with many different salons, and stylists from so many different background and demographics. Nothing has ever really stopped me from wanting to learn, grow, progress and digest every part of life, which has been fundamentally what has brought me to this point in my life. Nothing should be seen as just "something", everything is art in it's own way, creating inspiration for my passion every day. I also enjoy a matcha latte, I'm a morning person (to most peoples discuss) and Pepsi Max is better than Coke.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PART OF THE JOB?
Challenges, I love a challenge. Correction, transformations, anything.
WHAT IS YOUR GOAL?
I think for so long the hair industry has been divided, the outcasts, the "normies", the male salons/barbers but I want to create a space where everyone feels seen, accepted, understood and leave feeling like their true self. That is why I have also implemented gender neutrel pricing, hair is just hair.
